This is a super rare, Autographed Steve Garvey Complete Proto-type uniform. This one of a kind uniform was created by Sand Knit and was presented as a potential uniform to be used in 1984, which was the year the Padres went to their first World Series. After signing Garvey, the team gained popularity and the players didn't feel professional wearing a uniform whose major color was brown. You may remember Steve Garvey saying of the uniforms "The Padre uniform makes me look like a taco." This is one of the Jersey presented to the team. This contemporary-style jersey with the friar, never took the field. This style lost out to a design with a different Padres wordmark, and without the new friar. Back then, after a decision was made, the team or design firm would throw away the samples or they would destroyed. This set was part of a 6 set uniform, one of which was displayed at the 2016 All Star Fanfest and now in Cooperstown. The one displayed at the Fanfests was of Greg Nettles. This amazing, one of a kind piece is also signed beautifully, by Steve Garvey! SOLD
