After posting a 9-7 record during the 1989 regular season - followed by a loss to the Cleveland Browns in the Divisional Round of the playoffs -the Buffalo Bills had much higher hopes for their 1990 campaign. Led by the number one offense in the NFL, the Bills sure enough achieved greater success in 1990, finishing the regular season with a mark of 13-3. Running back Thurman Thomas ran for 1,297 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 49 receptions for 532 yards. Wide receiver Andre Reed caught 71 passes good for 945 yards and 8 TDs, and quarterback Jim Kelly posted a QB rating of 101.2. Defensively, Bruce Smith recorded 19 sacks. In the postseason, Buffalo's high-powered offense was on full display, first in a 44-34 win over the Miami Dolphins followed by a 51-3 blowout of the Oakland Raiders in the AFC Championship Game. Buffalo eventually would lose to the New York Giants, 20-19, in Super Bowl XXV, one of the greatest Super Bowls of all-time.
