One of the top closers of his era, Lee Smith finished his career with 478-saves and was the all-time leader in that category when he retired in 1997!
Playing in his only season with Baltimore, Smith recorded an American League high, 33-saves, despite the last month and a half being (50-games) cut short due to the players� strike, and was on-pace for 50! At the amazing age of 36, Smith still registered a solid 3.29 ERA ....finished 5th in the Cy Young balloting, and went to his 6th (of 7) *All-Star* Games!!
