This striking ....very large illuminated crystal & wood MLB Award was presented by Major League Baseball to Detroit Tigers - Mickey Lolich at a celebration gala in 1979 (framed photo included) for "25-Years of the World Series MVP's"!
The base is a heavy 9" x 13" wood pedestal that is almost 5" tall, and displays a 6" x 4" custom, crystal-etched hologram-like baseball, with the words denoting "World Series MVP 1955-79" making the total dimensions 13" x 18"! A 10.5" x 2.5" polished silver nameplate affixed to the wooden base has the engravings Major League Baseball – Sport Magazine, Honor 25 Years of World Series Heroes, Mickey Lolish, Detroit Tigers – 1969.
A fluorescent lamp is installed inside the wooden base to light up the crystal; a 68-inch cord with on/off switch extends from the back of the base. Included with the lot is a contemporary 8-by-10-inch color photograph of 18 of the 25 award winners at a reception that also featured MLB Commissioner Bowie Kuhn, with all handsomely outfitted in period-appropriate 1970s leisure suits. The photo is enclosed in a brushed gold frame with easel stand. All elements of the trophy appear to be essentially as-issued. Please feel free to text or call Scott with any questions. (949) 2460-826
