2012 MLB National League All-Star Game Prototype Ring

An extremely rare 2012 MLB All-Star Game prototype ring, manufactured by Herff Jones / Masters of Design and created as a proposed design for the National League All-Star Game ring. This prototype was not the design ultimately selected, making it an exceptionally unusual piece of MLB All-Star Game memorabilia.

The ring features a bold blue center stone with a large simulated diamond set in a diamond-shaped centerpiece. Additional stones flank each side of the face, with “2012” and the MLB logo across the top and “ALL STAR GAME” surrounding the bottom. One shank displays the National League emblem, while the opposite features the official 2012 MLB All-Star Game logo.

The 83rd MLB All-Star Game was played on July 10, 2012 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The National League dominated the American League 8–0, with San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera earning MVP honors.

Condition: Excellent overall condition with light signs of wear. There is some pitting and loss to the gold-tone plating, as shown in the photos.

Unlike the rings ultimately issued for the 2012 All-Star Game, this is a prototype design that was submitted for consideration but not selected for production. Its distinctive design and prototype status make it an incredibly rare piece of MLB history and an outstanding addition to an advanced All-Star Game or championship ring collection.
