Presented here is this Satin, Fight Worn Cornerman's jacket from the June 15, 1987 Heavyweight Fight Against Gerry Cooney. Spinks won this fight in the15th round with a TKO, retaining his heavyweight championship. Michael Spinks "Jinx" was a two-time World Champion with a 31-1 record.
The jacket is white satin with black lettering and was made by Everest (patch on the front). The back features his name with World Heavyweight Champion.
Overall, it shows great wear throughout with soiling and staining.
This piece came from the collection of Butch Lewis, the promoter for Michael Spinks and comes with a letter from Craig Hamilton.
Michael Spinks (born July 13, 1956) is an American boxer who competed from 1977 to 1988. He held world championships in two weight classes, including the undisputed light heavyweight title from 1983 to 1985, and the lineal heavyweight title from 1985 to 1988. As an amateur he won a gold medal in the middleweight division at the 1976 Summer Olympics.
