Walter Alston managed the Brooklyn / L.A. Dodgers for 23-years (1954-1976), taking the Dodgers to 7-World Series appearances, winning 4-World Championships (1955, 1959, 1963, & 1965). Not to mention, Alston had eight 2nd Place finishes also! Walter Alston had his #24 retired on June 5, 1977 by the Dodgers, and was inducted into the Baseball "Hall of Fame" in 1983. Walter, who was widley respected, managed 3,658-games .......winning 2,040-games, placing him 6th all-time on the MLB managerial wins list!! Walter was also named "Manager-Of-The-Year" 6-times, and led the N.L. *All-Star* Team to a record, 7-victories!
